Synopsis:
“Conversations II” offers an intimate look at the female universe, a journey in time through evocative images and the testimonies of women from the same family. The personal search of a daughter in the life of her mother and grandmother, contrasting the dreams, ideas and experiences of three generations. TRT = 16min.

Director bio:
Marianela Vega Oroza is a Peruvian filmmaker whose work has been screened in numerous festivals and galleries around the world, including the Center of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona CCCB, the Week of Experimental Film in Madrid, the gallery Women and their Work in Austin, Texas and the Passport for an artist show, sponsored by the French Embassy in Lima, Peru. Her short documentary film Conversations II has received eight awards in a variety of international festivals, for best documentary and best director. Marianela’s films are a personal journey through themes such as identity, family and memory. Combining different formats, genres and visual elements, she approaches filmmaking from an intimate point of view. Before moving to Texas, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Film production at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has been awarded the Warren E. Skaaren Scholarship, the Jessie Jones Fellowship and the Good Neighbor Scholarship, in recognition of her artistic and academic achievements. She is currently working on the post production of her thesis film Payasos (Clowns), based on the short story City of Clowns by Peruvian author Daniel Alarcon.
