Director bio: Mattie Akers, a native Austinite, entered UT’s MFA Film/Video Production program in the fall of 2006. Prior to grad school, she was an associate producer for Laura Dunn’s THE UNFORESEEN and earned a BA in American Civilization from Brown University. Mattie makes documentaries that blend history, culture, and social issues. She received the RTF Department’s Drago Spirit of Life Endowed Memorial Scholarship in 2007.
